Nowra was once a busy port servicing the many steamships which travelled along the coast from Narooma to Sydney until the railway reached Bomaderry. Today it is a busy tourist and commercial centre close to Norton National Park and the spectacular Fitzroy Falls. Situated 160km south of Sydney, via the Princes Highway, Nowra is the commercial centre of the Shoalhaven district on the South Coast of New South Wales. Nowra lies on the southern shore of the Shoalhaven River, while Bomaderry is on the northern bank.
